national and international leadership in equine veterinary clinical and diagnostic services, research, and education of veterinarians, students, and the public with regard to health and well-being of horses.
EVMC is staffed by board-certified veterinarians and researchers, applying advanced veterinary techniques and procedures in the treatment of equine patients. The research program aims to advance veterinary science through collaborations and clinical research projects.
EVMC has established an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to ensure that all research activities within EMVC and other Qatar Foundation (QF) institutions, involving animal use in research, are conducted with critical thought, judgment, and analysis. Using animals in research is a privilege granted by society to the research community with the expectation that such use will provide significant knowledge or lead to improvement in human and/or animal well-being.
EVMC IACUC vision is to ensure the highest standards of humane care and use of animals involved in research is maintained and conducted in compliance with Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) guidelines, the “Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals” and International regulations
The EVMC is the primary focal point and responsible institution for the IACUC. It is a joint collaboration between multiple QF institutions including; Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), Weill Cornell Medicine, Qatar Biomedical Research Institute (QBRI), Sidra Medical and Research Centre and Qatar University and strongly driven by Qatar Foundation’s Research, Development and Innovation (QF RDI). The IACUC works closely with Institution Officials to ensure continual compliance of the program.
