Position Summary

EVMC is seeking to hire a clinician veterinarian to work at the surgery department.

Perform basic/advanced routine/emergency surgeries on horses admitted to EVMC.

Provide basic/advanced sports medicine services on horses admitted to EVMC.

Acquire high quality diagnostic imaging studies on horses admitted to EVMC to allow accurate diagnosis in association with on-site clinicians and off-site board-certified radiologist.

Provide patient care to hospitalized horses at EVMC hospital.

Comply with billing and reporting policy in place at EVMC.

Participate in a rotating schedule with other EVMC clinicians to provide 24/7 emergency coverage (surgery/sports medicine and anesthesia) and patient care to hospitalized horses.

 

Support/mentor junior clinicians and interns when performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures or with difficult communications with clients/RDVM.

Supervising medical technicians (nurses), grooms, and visiting students.

 

Lead, inspire, engage and guide the staff to foster high ethical standards in meeting the organization's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

Responsible for practicing veterinary medicine within guidelines and regulations of the State of Qatar animal regulatory agencies.

Responsible for achieving revenue targets and contributing to EVMC commercial sustainability.

Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Guided by all internal EVMC policies and procedures and is required to maintain the standards of professional conduct expected from the Veterinary profession.

Veterinarians may work long hours including evenings, weekends and holidays if necessary, to deal with medical emergencies

Ensure safety of all personnel exposed to infectious tissues and body fluids, radiations, hazardous chemicals and fractious horses.​​​​​​​

Supervisor – frequent contact to provide project updates and receive guidance and approvals.

Clients (owners, farm managers and referring veterinarians) – frequent contact to provide medical progress reports and updated bills.

Staff – frequent contact to provide guidelines and updates on new development, feedback on performance and appraisal.

Qualifications and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary from an accredited College or University.

Board Certified in an accredited College in area of specialization or extensive clinical experience equal to qualifications for board certification.

8 – 10 years of relevant full-time ‘work experience as a veterinarian in a relevant field of Equine veterinary, or 5 years of experience and board certification or PHD.

Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively and diplomatically with a broad range of diverse individuals professionally.

Demonstrated management experience in order to direct, guide, train and evaluate the efforts of staff to meet operational standards, with the ability to hold personnel accountable and make difficult decisions to improve operations.

Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage

Proficiency in MS Office applications
