Senior Clinician in Equine Internal Medicine

Position Summary

We are looking for an ECEIM/ACVIM Diplomat with 3+ years of post-residency experience to join our dynamic team of board-certified veterinarians in the Middle East. The Equine Veterinary Medical Center (EVMC) is a state-of-the-art equine referral center located within Al Shaqab, a magnificent horse complex situated in the heart of Education City, the educational hub of Qatar Foundation, in Doha, Qatar.

The Equine Veterinary Medical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time position as Senior Clinician in Equine Internal Medicine.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Provide excellent Equine Internal Medicine clinical services to EVMC clients, mainly in-house, including emergency and critical care, gastroenterology, neonatology, pneumology, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cardiology among others.

• Support the anesthesia/pain management service by supervising interns or residents conducting general anesthesia and neuroleptanalgesia for recumbent or standing surgical procedures respectively.

• Communicate efficiently and regularly with EVMC clients and referring veterinarians on the horses’ medical conditions and updated invoices.

• Contribute to the clinical training/teaching of residents, interns, externs as well as EVMC referring veterinarian community in the format of continuing educational opportunities.

• Perform emergency work after hours, during weekends and public holidays; to be shared evenly with other internal medicine team members.

• Provide administrative and strategic committee support occasionally.

• Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in equine veterinary medicine in your area of interest through retrospective and prospective research projects.

• Further the national, regional and international reputation of EVMC.

Qualifications and experience

• DVM or equivalent.

• A completed residency in Equine/Large Animal Internal Medicine and ACVIM or ECEIM Board certification.

• A research degree (MSc or Ph.D.) desirable.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in Equine Internal Medicine, acquired at referral private hospitals, or at university veterinary teaching hospitals.

• Evidence of a publication record in veterinary medicine.
