Position Summary

EVMC is seeking to hire a veterinarian to work at the Ambulatory Clinic – Emergency. The candidate is expected to perform the following:

Provide veterinary medical assistance to horses (> 85%) and other large animals (camel, bovine, small ruminant, and zoo animals) at the clients’ farms/premises (ambulatory services).

Responsibilities

Responsible for veterinary procedures that will include but are not limited to equine routine veterinary care (vaccination, dentistry, and preventive medicine), reproductive services, and lameness workup.

➢ Refer cases to EVMC hospital when needed and follow them up.

➢ Supervise grooms/veterinary assistants, veterinary technicians/nurses, interns and visiting students.

➢ Participate in a rotating schedule with other EVMC clinicians and to provide emergency care on an ambulatory basis or at EVMC hospital.

➢ To have great communications skills and to communicate clearly with clients or their representatives.

➢ Responsible for preparing bills on clients’ premises and to take payment on site.

➢ Be eager to work in a team environment and to have a willingness to connect and build relationships with EVMC clients.

➢ Establish goals/objectives and to develop policies and procedures relating to EVMC ambulatory services.

➢ Responsible for practicing veterinary medicine with guidelines and regulations of the State of Qatar animal regulatory agencies.

➢ Adhere to all EVMC and QF policies with regards to ethical work conduct.

➢ Conduct retrospective, prospective or epidemiological clinical studies to advance veterinary medicine independently or in collaboration with other veterinary scientists, resulting in publications and presentations at local and international professional meetings.

➢ Keep track of stock levels, replenish when needed and to take excellent care of the ambulatory vehicles and equipment provided.

➢ To have excellent computing skills, familiarity with HVMS and Microsoft Office

➢ Show flexibility in performing duties other than mentioned above and complete any other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

DVM degree or equivalent from an accredited college and university mandatory & 6-8 years’ work experience as a veterinarian 2 of which at supervisory level

➢ Veterinarian with strong relationship building skills.

➢ Evidence of Continued Professional Development.

➢ A good level of spoken and written English to enable communication with other staff and keeping of medical records is essential.

➢ Excellent writing skills with the ability to draft and edit a variety of written reports and communications and to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; Arabic proficiency is an advantage

➢ Proficiency in MS Office applications
