Rodney King is a farrier with 27 years of experience in both private and clinical practices. First qualified in New Zealand as a Certified Equine Farrier (NZCEF) in 2002 he developed a successful Sport horse-based shoeing business in the North Canterbury region. Qualifications of Certified Farrier (CF) and Certified Journeyman Farrier (CJF) (USA) were achieved between 2004 and 2007.
In 2007 he joined Rood and Riddle Equine hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, USA until 2011. During this period, he was senior farrier to Dr. Scott Morrison, founder of the RREH podiatry department. In 2009 He attained the Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers (AWCF) qualification, a therapeutic-based farrier certification. In 2020 after several years back in New Zealand operating a Sport horse and podiatry-based business, Rodney moved to Qatar as Head of Podiatry at Equine Veterinary Medical Center. Rodney has presented lectures and given clinics and demonstrations in USA, Japan, Germany, Australia and New Zealand at both veterinary and farrier conferences and has been an international farrier competitor as a representative for New Zealand for many years. He has a strong interest in therapeutic-based farrier and enjoys teaching and educating in both shoeing and shoe making.
After working in various capacities within the Department of Animal Resources, she transferred as Manager of the Pet's Clinic & Cats Control Unit with the Animal Resource Department for 2 years. She has served as the designated Focal Point for the World Organisation for Animal Health – OIE, for Animal Welfare in Qatar, for 3 years and is an FEI* Permitted Treatment Veterinarian.
Dr. Al-Fadala joined Equine Veterinary Medical Center in 2015. Her interest has focused on equine veterinary medicine, specifically equine surgery. Her professional goal is to become board certified in equine surgery, and through her training to help advance the quality and standards of veterinary medicine in Qatar.
She hopes that by bringing specialized expertise back to the Middle East, she will serve as a role model for women in the region to pursue higher education and a professional career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Endrigo possesses 17 years of experience in Equine surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation. He has had a very close proximity to horses his entire life.; from growing up on his family farm, to horse riding and flat racing too. He is currently completing his final year in residency at EVMC and believes that the core of what he does has always been to make horses feel better. He believe that “the horse always comes first”.
Dr Endrigo Pompermayer graduated in 2008 from Santa Maria University Brazil in 2008, where he worked in the College Veterinary Hospital and completed a master's degree in 2011. Following his passion for sports medicine and surgery, Dr. Endrigo worked at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club for 8 years, doing a variety of cases at the hospital, track work and looking after racing yard.
Dr. Eduardo Santos is the Clinical Veterinarian in Reproduction at EVMC. In his role, he provides specialized reproductive care for cases of subfertility, high-risk pregnancies and reproductive emergencies. Dr. Eduardo leads the establishment of the first commercial Reproductive Biotechnology Laboratory for the horses in the region
Dr. Santos graduated from Universidad De Guadalajara, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Upon graduation, he worked for several years as an equine general practitioner in Mexico and the Middle East. Before joining EVMC, Dr. Eduardo completed a Theriogenology Residency at the University of California, Davis and stayed thereafter as an Equine Reproduction Veterinarian at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Eduardo’s research and clinical interests include assisted reproductive technologies, equine genetic selection and preservation, infertility and obstetrics.
Combining two of his main passions, Dr. Eduardo’s current work consists on the application of biotechnologies for fertility enhancement on the Arabian Horse.
Dr. Fernandes began his internal medicine residency accredited from the European College of Equine Internal Medicine at EVMC in July 2021. He has special interests in neonatology, ultrasonographic evaluation, juvenile idiopathic epilepsy (JIE) in neonatal foals and the identification and monitoring of high-risk pregnant mares.
Dr Tiago Fernandes graduated from the University of Porto (Portugal) in 2018. He found his passion for horses when studying them in his final year of university. As a young student, he started his career exploration at the Royal Veterinary College in London, where he got to work alongside their residents, igniting his passion for internal medicine and the desire to pursue a residency. He has since been traveling around Europe, Brazil, and EAU to explore a variety of work environments (university, private practice and ambulatory), different cultures and different clinical approaches of board certificated veterinarian’s work. This early interest prompted him to pursue a competitive rotating internship at EVMC.
Dr. Matthew is an European and UK recognized specialist in equine internal medicine.
Before joining EVMC in April 2021, Dr. Mathew used to work at the Rainbow Equine Hospital in the UK in 2020, working as both a senior clinician and as part of the diagnostic laboratory. He also worked at Fyrnwy Equine Clinic in the UK.
Dr. Matthew’s primary research interest is in equine infectious diseases, particularly emerging diseases throughout the world and he is recognized as an expert in this area. Dr. Matthew’s clinical interests also include intensive care, ophthalmology, cardiorespiratory disease, endocrine disease and neurology.
Dr. Matthew undertook his veterinary training at the University of Bristol from 2001–2007. During this time, he also completed an intercalated degree in Equine Science.
After graduating as a veterinarian, he initially worked with all types of animals before choosing to specialize in horses. He was awarded the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) certificate in equine internal medicine in 2010, before going on to complete a residency in equine internal medicine and infectious diseases at the University of Liverpool where he completed a research master’s degree at the university’s Institute of Infection and Global Health, investigating the risk of African horse sickness to the UK horse population.
Dr. Ghazanfar Abbas has been as our ambulatory equine veterinarian since January 2019. He has garnered 7 years of experience working with horses and believes that having a positive impact on their wellbeing and health is the highlight of what he does every day. He is particularly interested in equine surgery and sports medicine.
Dr. Ghazanfar Abbas, graduated from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan in 2014. He completed an internship at the Brooke Hospital for Animals in Pakistan in 2014, and in 2015, Dr. Abbas progressed to the position of Associate Equine Veterinarian at the same institution. He then completed a one-year equine internship at the Equine Center, San Luis Obispo, USA, in 2016, followed by an internship at private equine racing stud in Dubai, in 2017. Dr. Abbas worked as Associate Equine Veterinarian at the same practice before moving to Canada for 6-month observership at a busy equine surgical practice. Dr. Abbas than moved to Saudi Arabia in 2018, where he worked as Associate Equine Veterinarian.
Dr. Achappa is an equine veterinarian specializing in internal medicine who prioritizes providing quality patient care to horses. He has over 28 years of experience working with horses and has worked in various capacities from being responsible for the management, treatment, and breeding of horses at stud farms, to providing medical and surgical care to horses in equine hospitals.
Dr. Devaya Kelapanda Achappa has a Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) and a bachelor of Veterinary Science (B.v.SC) from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, India. His interests and specialties are anesthesia and recovery. His experience on the field in multiple parts of the word has resulted in the expansion of his knowledge and practice in internal medicine. With Dr. Devaya, your horse is in good hands.
Dr Jessica Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (MVB) in Veterinary Medicine from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, in 2011.
Dr. Jessica’s special areas of research include ultrasound-guided injection techniques in the horse, and pre-surgical disinfection of the equine hoof.
In 2014, Dr. Jessica completed a 3-year residency at UCD VH to become a European Specialist in Large Animal Surgery. She also completed a Doctorate of Veterinary Medical Specialization (DVMS). Her special areas of research include ultrasound-guided injection techniques in the horse, and pre-surgical disinfection of the equine hoof.
